It was something a friend read me out of a computer magazine, I think.
They upload the software, but the Borg adapt, creating more onboard memory to
replace that eaten by Windows.
In the end, just as they're about to destroy the Enterprise, they're pounded
by a shipload of lawyers for using Windows without sending off the
registration card.
Being serious for a moment, the Enterprise has a completely new operating
system, the likes of which we've never seen before. I mean, that level of
voice input on a Gates product? No way.
(The script team on ST:TNG invented a new, untranslatable, measure of
computer ability just so that people twenty years from now wouldn't laugh at
how puny the Enterprise's computers were.)
