| subject: | no interrupt? |
I gotta admit that I'm still puzzled as to why one particular PCI slot in the linux box here wasn't giving an IRQ to the sound card... But a couple of people suggested that I try a different slot, or swap it with something, or whatever, so I did. First thing I tried was swapping the sound card (which I was having a problem with) with the video card (the only other PCI card in there), and sure enough, the boot messages that were displayed showed that now the _video_ card had "n/a" for where the other stuff was showing what interrupt. So I moved it again, to a different slot this time, and now it has one. The sound card had been given IRQ 11 the first time around, and now the video card has that, and the sound card has IRQ 9. On booting linux, I see: es1371: version v0.30 time 00:45:14 May 31, 2002 (compile date?) es1371: found chip, vendor id 0x1274 device id 0x1371 revision 0x06 es1371: found es1371 rev 6 at io 0x6100 irq 9 es1371: features: joystick 0x0 ...which is way different than what I was seeing before. So what's the deal here, one slot doesn't _have_ an interrupt available to it? Or is it something else? For whatever it's worth, it's the "shared" slot where you can put either a PCI or an ISA card in there, if that matters. Now to try some sound stuff. ---* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 379/1 106/1 2000 633/267 |
