Once I noticed that at some point in trying get it to work I put a REM on the usbmsd line, I was able to get it formatted JFS. Only one oddity left. In the drives folder it shows as a normal harddrive, but in LVM it has the removable media icon. The drive in question is a SimpleTech 160GB External USB Hard Drive. I don't know what is going to happen when I shutdown. I have seen people say you should always eject removable media even though there is nothing really to eject. In this case because in the drives folder it appears as a normal harddrive there is no eject setting on the popup menu. Well at least now thanks to you guys I know how to fix it if it gets messed up.
