CT> Do you think a bird at a vets office can pass off viruses and
CT> bacteria that
CT> comes through the vets door from other sick birds? Like typhoid
CT> Mary?
Doubtful, unless the disease can be caught just by being in the room with it.
I don't think that I can get AIDS from sitting next to a person with it, and
I don't think that my bird can get any bacteria from a bird sitting in a cage
in a vets' office.
CT> I don't like birds in vets office as pets.. I dont' like them in
CT> there for boarding either.
I see no reason not to have birds in a doctors office as a pet, it will get
alot of attention, the cage will be kept clean, and the moment the bird shows
signs of illness, the doctor can check the bird out. As for boarding, that
as
to be the safest place to put a bird, they sanatize the cages there if the
doctor has a large amount of avian patients, you don't even have to bring
in your cage for the bird. If the doctor hsa no bird cages, then you can
bring your cage in so that your bird never leaves it's own cage. I've had to
take my bird to the vet and board it there before, it's not something I like
but I've never had her get ill from visiting the doctor.
CT> I have in the past got very nervous about keets, finches, love birds
CT> and the likes in vets office up at the desk.
I wouldn't be so paranoid. I mean, as long as the birds are in the lobby
and not in the operating room, there shouldn't be a problem. I mean, they let
people come into the lobby and we have bacteria crawling all over us, why
should a bird be a problem?
CT>
CT> My vets don't have these birds....Matter of a fact, Dr. Ritchie has
CT> a cat for his pet.......
Is the cat allowed to roam around the front of the doctors ofice?
