RP>I don't care about your research. I can see the results of
RP>educational methods used in the last 15 years in the _teachers_ now
RP>entering the work force. As a rule, _they_ can't spell worth a damn
RP>either.
And which scientific study did you conduct to come to this conclusion?
.
The same thing has happened in math BTW: kids aren't
RP>being made to memorize multiplication tables to the degree they were
RP>twenty years ago, and it is a perfect analogy to the lack of spelling
RP>instruction and its consequences.
A perfect analogy? Well it's an analogy but as for the lack of spelling
instruction and it's alleged consequences, I don't think you can prove
anything by that except to say that this is *your* opinion only.
I think math facts are important by the way and I also think spelling
instruction is important. Maybe we just differ on the delivery.
RP>I don't care about the research you quote because it is almost
RP>impossible to validate it.
It's very easy to validate since I have provided many sources which are
easily verifiable.
Show me _reproducible_ results from
RP>controlled experiments performed by unbiased researchers well-
RP>schooled in the "scientific method", and then you might have some-
RP>thing.
You mean a controlled experiment similar to the one you, in your
unbiased viewpoint, conducted using the "scientific method" that yielded
the results that new teachers entering the teaching field can't spell
worth a damn? Was your research representational of all teachers
entering the field or was it confined to just the schools you worked at?
The research you quote is based merely on statistics gleaned
RP>from pre-existing data, in pre-existing learning environments.
?? What are you trying to say here? You haven't even studied the
research I quoted remember? You said it couldn't be validated. You
haven't even looked at any of the material I offered.
RP>Experi- ments need to be set up in a controlled environment for
RP>proper research to take place. Meanwhile, I'll trust the conclusions
RP>based on my own observations, which have served me well thus far.
Let's see....experiments need to be scientifically controlled for proper
research except where your observation skills are concerned?
I'll stick to valid research thanks..
