AMD64 really purring quite nicely with a fresh install of WSeB I am
confronting the deal-breaker that caused me to setup a networked, dedicated
OS/2 box in the first place since it just can't keep up in the video driver
department. The last time it matched for me was an nVidia TNT2 and that
was almost 5 years ago and alsmost as many video card revisions. Now my
new system uses an nVidia GeForce 6600 GT which has 256megs video ddr ram
and amazing 3D acceleration. My problem is that even if I could bring
myself to spend nearly $40 US for SNAP drivers (running a very close 2nd to
M$ asking $50 for USBSUPP.dll so that Win95 would handle AGP - the last
time I bought anything bigger than a mouse from M$) they don't support this
chipset and considering they just this year gained support for GeForce
*5500* !!! it's going to be long past this card's usefullness to me before
they finally get around to it.

least give me basic OpenGL 3D svga support on this chipset w/o spending an
arm&a leg, preferably free (which considering Scitech's lack of support
I think their's should be for home users, or at least really cheap, but oh
well cold day in hell and all that) . I looked at scitech beta drivers and
if they don't run out of time that could possibly work at least on some
fundamental level. Does IBM have (or have plans to soon change to) free or
cheap drivers for basic nVidia support? Please help soon since my snap
downloaded drivers run out this week.
I'm curious as to why you put the cart before the horse, and didn't
check for video driver support BEFORE you purchased the nVidia 6600GT
card.
Such has been the way of OS/2 users since time began, after all.

It's pretty clear your card's not on that list... and though I'd not
tried it myself, the ATI Radeon Mobility X800 is... which is even
faster than the 6600GT for eye-bleeding framerates on Windows
benchmarks - given its 256bit bus and 12 or 16 pixel pipes.
Are you using 3D on your OS/2 machine?
Most cards I've benchmarked in current hardware using the SNAP driver
set perform pretty much the same in a 2D environment, including the
Radeon 8500 and FX5200 and FX5500 (all AGP) I've tried recently, in
addition to an All-in-Wonder X600 Pro PCI Expre
card.

The three-year old Radeon 9800 I have scores just under the 6600GT card
on this test - though the memory clock is slower, it has a 256-bit bus
to the 6600GT's 128bit... and yes, it's fully-supported by the SNAP
driver.
Sorry, but I'm not aware of any other driver developers for OS/2 (not
exactly a crowded field!)... you're probably going to have to bite the
bullet and shell out for another card - or swap it if you're still able
to return the 6600GT to the place you bought it from, and get one
that's on SciTech's list.
