Hi Nancy,
RH> If it's cool temps, the higher humidity is OK but once the temps get
RH> up to the upper 70s/low 80s, I need the A/C.
NB> Our house, thankfully, doesn't tend to get too humid inside, except
NB> sometimes in the dog days of late July or August...
Ours can, but it gets hotter and humider here than NY--tho July and
August can be pretty humid up there, I know.
NB> NB>>> In nursing homes, they refer to them as
"milkshakes"... yeah,
NB> NB>>> right... ;0
NB> RH>> Probably not a drop of milk in them.
NB> NB>> Considering that most if not all of them claim to be
NB> lactose-free, NB>> that would be a fair likelihood... ;)
RH> Probably call them "milkshakes" to make the residents think they're
RH> getting something good. Most of them probably remember when shakes
RH> were made with milk and ice cream, not a chemical concoction. (G)
NB> Well, it is a way of getting nutrients into them, I suppose... Anyone
NB> I've been responsible for seems to hear the quotes, though, when the
NB> staff called them "milkshakes"... It does have somewhat
the texture of
NB> a thin shake... ;) Lydia used to make Mommy shakes with milk and ice
NB> cream, though.... or put a scoop of ice cream, along with milk, to
NB> reconstitute her Breakfast Essentials drink for her supper...
NB> Anything to get more calories and nutrients into someone having
NB> difficulty eating enough... :)
Lydia's shakes sound much more appealing. (G) And, yes, the main idea is
to push nutrients that may not be consumed thru other meals. Much easier
to drink a "shake" than to have to wrestle
knife/fork/spoon/chew/plate/bowl as you get older and frailer.
