| subject: | Hibernating |
August, Since I think it was You who mentioned that I should try Hibernating my XP computer instead of Shutting It Down, I thought I'd send my comments to You. A couple of times last week when I pressed the power button to wake up the computer I noticed that the monitor stayed dark for a real long time after the Hibernation restore bar chart got finished. I think I found out why that happened. Last week I turned the monitor off just after I pressed the Power button on the computer, while the Hibernating process was being done. I suppose the setting for the Video wasn't available to be put in the hiberfil.sys file so that is why nothing showed up on the monitor for a long time. Yesterday and today I made sure that the power light on the computer was out after telling it to Hibernate, and then I turned the monitor off as I always have done in the past, and when I wanted to use the computer the next time everything showed up on the monitor as it should have. The trouble(s) I cause myself.
