Without comment on the quality of Peavey amplifiers, it
should be noted that Peavey is a Mississippi-based company
and thus reasonably "local" to Carl's home in Tennessee.
Carl was proud of his southern roots, and might have used
Peavey because of the southern connection.  Then again, he
may have been influenced by the equipment he saw being
used by friends -- I noticed Peavy amps and monitors
onstage at the Grand Ole Opry during their TNN broadcast
this evening.
I do know for a fact that the store where Carl bought
most of his equipment does *not* sell Peavey.
