ABS *is* different because it won't lock the wheels. One has to be able
to lock the wheels on ice to stop faster. I heard it said numerous times
by defensive driving course teachers and professional ice-racing
drivers. It may not make as much difference with bald all season tires
but it definitely will with good winter tires or better yet studs.
