: PE> Ah yes, I see that too. I will be interested to see what happens if : PE> someone replies to one of your UUCP messages, whether their software : PE> puts in X-comment-to (tin doesn't appear to), and whether your gating : PE> software knows about that also. Otherwise, messages will come out as : PE> addressed to "All", but I don't think that's what Alan is talking : PE> about. BFN. Paul. : Actually, this is the very thing that has concerned me all along with : newsgroups. Any gated mail to fido is always addressed to "all". So you : don't : really know a particular message is addressed to you unless you actually read : ALL the messages. : I know many real news readers are threaded, so you can see the chain of : replies and who started it. Can this information be used to somehow put in : the intended "TO" name? Or is there simply not enough information in the : message to do this? You can, if you keep a database containing message-id's and authors. Otherwise, you need the internet person to use the X-Comment-To line in their reader. I expect I will make tin do that before too long, since I have the source. But first things first. First I have to find out why inews or innd has a core dump after each article that I post! BFN.
