Hi Vic,

  If you have replaced the cartridges, then it does indeed sound like it 
may be something in the printer itself - hopefully it's only the usage 
counter.

   You didn't say which model it was, I have an Epson Stylus Color 680 
and when I had my problems I found the "SSC Service Utility" was the 
solution to reset the counter.
