subject: Ladies gun?

PN>Cloyce was returning fire at Paul
PN> about Ladies gun?
(lots of sexist stuff clipped)
PN> I grew up as a "switch hitter." There were wheelguns and self-loaders
PN> in the "arsenal." I became a true believer in the .45 round after
PN> seeing the results on the human torso. So, for my own personal
PN> purposes I prefer the .45, and the most effective way to use it is in
PN> an auto.
I agree with the selection of .45 caliber; but first on the list
is the .45 Colt. The .45 ACP is second, on my list. Either is
probably more than adequate, but having both is a good excuse to
        buy more guns. :-) EP
PN> For my wife's purposes, she has trouble cycling the slide -- her hands
PN> are small, some arthritis is starting to manifest itself and she
PN> doesn't have a great deal of strength. She had difficulty with both
PN> the autos last week, so the conclusion for her is probably a small
PN> frame revolver. Plus, at her level of competence in a high stress
PN> situation there are fewer steps to take and fewer potential screw-ups
PN> to make with the revolver.
Often a problem with women, which is one reason to have the Colt
SAA's lying around the house. EP
PN> CO> :-) It's no secret that I've always favored revolvers and one of the
PN> CO> reasons is just as you stated.
PN> PN> A new compact _and_ a new Chief's Special, or whatever, ain't in the
PN> PN> cards. Anybody with any thoughts on bargain compact firepower?
Check out the Rossi short barreled .38. Cloyce's suggestion
about older revolvers is a good idea as well; especially since
it necessitates a lot of time spent wandering through gunshows.
