GP> DP> GP> * "Is the USA Government Really Pro-Canada?"
GP> DP>
GP> DP> They would be if they knew how to spell our name.
GP> Ahh, but WOULD they really be PRO Canada then? or just as apathetic &
GP> using of us as now, without knowing our name/location or much of
GP> ANYTHING about us, other than we're a nice peaceful country all "tucked
GP> away down there"?
Sadly, you're right. I once sat in front of a rather ditzy woman who
was exclaiming loudly about the glass floor in the CN Tower. She said
something like "Oh I don't think I want to go there! Everyone could see
up my skirt". It hurts when you shoot Pepsi through your nose.
GP> DP> GP> * " Was the Greatest PM
Canada Ever Had!"
GP> DP>
GP> DP> Lester Pearson, by virtue of the fact that he was the last PM who left
GP> DP>
GP> DP> us with a dollar that was above the U.S. in value. And by the fact
GP> DP> that
GP> DP> he did not introduce deficit spending.
GP> I don't understand this need to match our dollar to the US dollar -- the
GP> same name is a COINCIDENCE -- they're atcually TWO different currencies
GP> -- we certainly don't say much about having parity with the Mexican peso
GP> (anotheu North American currency that's included in NAFTA)
It used to be that the world compared its currency with ours, not the
U.S. We've lost our status since then. Or something. Actually with our
imports doing so well, it's hard to come up with a good reason why our
dollar should be worth more....
Anyway, I recall when vacations to the U.S. were a lot more affordable
than they are now.
GP> DP> GP> * " is the BEST!!!"
GP> DP>
GP> DP> I live in Ontario but have never been out west or to the Martimes.
GP> DP> Judgement suspended for the time being.
GP> Well aren't you the unique one! *LOL*
GP> I meant that more as a controversial come-on for all those OUTSIDE of
GP> Toronto, who mostly DO have some sort of opinion on it (&, for them, not
GP> having ever SEEN Toronto in person is not considered , BY them, to be
GP> any sort of shortcoming or barrier to having strong anti-Toronto
GP> opinions! *sigh*)
True enough.
GP> I've been in Ontario (and every province to the west thereof, at least
GP> outside the Territories) but not Toronto, so I, too, reserve
GP> judgement... but I am already aware that it's a cultural centre and
GP> filled with just regular folks, (as is Vancouver, except we're nowhere
GP> near as historically cultural!)
Really! I would have thought you'd at least have a large Asian
component to your workforce there.
GP> DP> GP> * "Toronto sucks, eh?"
GP> DP>
GP> DP> Hmmm. Not really. Parts of it does. I hate driving in it. But the
GP> DP> nightlife is unbelievable. And I'm all about the parties, man.
GP> Ditto as above, with other peoples' biased views! :)
GP> I think EVERY city could have it said, especially by its own citizens,
GP> "parts of it suck"
Did I mention the parties? :)
GP> DP> GP> * "Gay Marriages?"
GP> DP>
GP> DP> Nothankyouverymuch. I was married. To a woman. I'll never
GP> DP> understand
GP> DP> gay attraction, so you can see that I have no desire to ever get
GP> DP> married again, much less to a man. But thanks for asking.
GP> Aww, if they want equality, why shouldn't they have the suffering and
GP> hassles of marriage just like the rest of us? *LOL*
Shhh. No one's thought about that side of it yet. I'd hate to be a
judge in a gay divorce case: it'd be too hard to figure out which one was
more feminine, and thus too hard to figure out which side to get biased
about. (Oh sorry, was my bitterness showing again?)
