Yes, I know.  I just assumed that Phil put it there untranslated
deliberately in his desire to prove his superiority, and it annoyed me.

It's a shame, though.  Phil is sharp and often has some very good points. 
The constant stream of shrill invective against all things American,
however, generally makes me tune him out the same way I tune out Rich from
Microsoft.  For an example, note that he didn't simply give me a
translation of the phrase but also added a slap at my and my country's
ignorance.
