Subject: New law in Ohio
Ohio State Senate and House recently voted overwhelmingly to
make it a crime to carry replica firearms onto school property.
Supposedly this was in response to kids carrying fake guns to
school. I haven't heard if it has been signed by the Gov. yet
or not, I know this is the sort of symbolic crap law he loves
to sign.
State law already says [in a recent change] if you use a replica
gun in a manner that would lead a reasonable person to believe
it was a real gun then for the purpose of various criminal acts
it is to be considered a real gun. Supposedly the new law will
require even convicted minors to serve jail time.
I wonder if the game "assassination" I played in college would
now be illegal ? We used dart guns that looked fairly real.
I remember once in the cafeteria a campus cop got a real worried
look on his face until he realized I had a dart gun .
I'd never play something like that today, not even paintball.
But it was fun.
