I'm just glad that I'm not the only one who publicly obsesses about these
things.
Geez, this stuff sounds *painful*.
But I guess it goes along with the black leather and stud image . . . .
of course, Avon doesn't wear black leather until well along in the second
season. So was he just being discreet before then, or is this something
he gets himself involved in during his time on the Liberator. But if it's
the latter, the question is, who got him involved in it? Blake? Cally?
I don't think it's their style, but you never know. Jenna? Travis?
Avon and Servalan don't meet until "Aftermath", but it might not be too
late. Dayna? She is the one who doesn't believe in pleasure without
danger.
Inquiring minds want to know!
(My week of good behavior is up. I'm obsessing again.)

And they say using Internet isn't educational?!?!? :)
Speaking of pierced parts, and sorry to get back on a semi-sensible track,
but what about ears? I know Servalen and Dayna have pierced ears but can't
remember if Jenna, Cally, Soolin have them!
Back into the non-sensical...I can see Vila coming back from a drunken
spree and discovering an earring where there wasn't one before, I can even
see Tarrant getting one ear pierced (the pirate image would appeal to him,
maybe?) but Avon???? Err..umm...ahh...I don't think so. Maybe late,
LATE in the fourth season, but not before. The only person capable of
talking him into doing something like that would be Cally, and she'd
DEFINITELY have to be possessed by another alien mind?
What happened the second time an alien took Cally over? Did she get
REpossessed? (DUCK!)
Did anyone ever come up with a reasonable explanation as to why computer-
controlled creatures (Alphas? Alphans?) would have such a snazzy wardrobe
on their ships? For BOTH sexes? It seems to me that it was only the women
that were in charge. Any fanfic cover it?

Not on British tv, he wouldn't. Here, the symbolism isn't piratical
but gay, and Tarrant is generally portrayed in fanfic as decidedly
homophobic.
I think the Avon we see on the screen would regard such things as
childish, he is always very quick to go into `contempt' mode so I can
hardly see any of his shipmates suggesting any such thing to him
(unless they were drunk).

I'd think that we can draw some conclusions about the people who
programmed the computers in the first place!

I must point out that this seems to be slowly changing (in the States,

There was a story in one of the Gambits, I believe, written from Zen's
POV, wherein the DSV had been stolen from the Altas by a band of
mercenaries some time before Space Fall. So they were the ones who
had stocked the treasure room and wardrobe. The mercs abandoned ship
or were killed during the space battle the London wandered into. And
Blake et al. took over from there.
Kind of an interesting twist on the subject, quite different from
what we usually assume--yes, Liberator is a "pre-loved" vehicle!

Well, in the pierced stories that I have read, Avon either got it
when he was at university (?) or it is not explained at all. In both
tales, it was Blake who was doing the wondering, but he seemed to enjoy
them! :-)
Catherine
Blake: "Does it support any intelligent life?"
Avon: "Does the Liberator?"
