I have a model 1853L/1857L card, a Soundblaster Pro type I think, on an
EPoX PCI bus Mainboard with sixteen megabytes of RAM and a 512K L2, and
it drives a pair of Bose brand powered car loudspeakers to which I've
added two 12V supplies (homemade!). 
Somewhere I read something about using system RAM for wavetables, but
no details.
