> The Alaskan Highway which actually starts in Dawson Creek, B.C. is > an amazing road trip. And you can branch off to beautiful Atlin > B.C., historic Skagway or Dawson City in the Yukon and then grab the > Dempster Highway from there to Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk and be almost > as far north as Point Barrow (which one must fly too). Tuk is on the > Arctic Ocean too. Thanks for the suggestions! I have read about the Dempster, and also the Dalton. I am not certain that my current vehicle is of the proper "configuration" for the "all-weather" roads. I have seen some footage of vehicles on both... the Dempster seems to be kept in better shape than the Dalton, even though both have some disclaimers regarding sturdy tires and plenty of spares. :) Most all of the folks who filmed footage of either highway seemed to be driving 4WD or AWD vehicles. However, in at least some of the Dempster footage, they would pass vehicles waiting for the ferry that had about the same ground clearance as mine... just older looking and more beat-up. :) I was not aware that the Dempster was completed all the way to Tuk yet. --- * SLMR 2.1a * "Buck McCoy?!?
