1237ab1b4a81 tech Hello Russell - --8<--cut CA>>>> Any well-written WAV editor that you want to use is good. RT>>> Hmmm ... CA>> Seriously. I wrote single-bit sound apps to save raw sound CA>> data from a DAC and WAV files aren't much different. It's CA>> quite 'raw' in it's format, that's why they are so huge. RT> That I understand, but something I have been wondering RT> about is, is there likely to be a program that loses RT> "quality" while working with and saving to *.wav format. RT> ie. I use CDWAVE to split LP sides into tracks, no sound RT> processing, all things being equal, am I likely to loose RT> quality of sound using different apps to save the same RT> "sound data" or is this something that is not likely to RT> happen. Risky to vouch for software when you haven't seen the source code. It is conceivable that some WAV editors might attempt to tweak the saved file for their own purposes when reloading it? I can only say the 'nature' of WAV file editing is to work with raw binary coded data and should not alter the code when it is loaded and re-saved back to the drive. --8<--cut CA>> I really am interested in this, it's one of the better CA>> uses for a CD burner. RT> As soon as that LP lands here, I will record it to HDD, and RT> then write to a CD, and then "work" on it. :-) RT> The only use that my computer at home earns me a few Rands. RT> :-) Haven't heard 'Rands' in so long I forget what that means. Is it like 'gold stars' or karma etc.? > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ ___ * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
