Kevin,
I am using 80 wire cables here on two computers. This on has two Segate 80
gb drives as master on both controllers;Asus cd/dvd reader slave on
primary, Plextor 712a cd.dvd burner slave on secondary. Second machine has
an old Maxtor 9gb(1999m vintage) as master on primry controller, with n old
LG cdreader as slave. In both cases there are no problems that I can see.
There are 40 ground wires and 40 other wires in the cables. In other
words, one of the outside wires is a ground wire;the other side ,the outside
wire is one of the data cables. AMOF,the same wire that is on that side as
in a 40 wire cable.
