Very good point Tom! I think though that the greatest
refinement towards _intelligence_ only took place in land
animals--viz. dolphins which, though probably having a fair
degree of prototypical intelligence, did not develop as far
as homo sap. did (I suspect that one reason for
this--besides the lack of hands--is the fact that the brains
of marine animals must devote too much of their resources to
refining themselves to functioning in a
_3-D_ world, particularly wrt visual/sonar location and
prediction of trajectories.)        ...tonyC
