G'day Paul,
Replying to a message of Paul Edwards to Jeff Green on 21/05/97:
JG>> For me as the gateway, it means that each packet headed out into
JG>> fidoland will contain the messages I sent you to from fidoland on
JG>> my previous call. This is a problem!
PE> It certainly is.
I've thought of one solution. I don't know how feasible it is. Comments please.
Instead of sending zipped files to John, I send .pkt files. Before they are
sent, I run them through a filter and discard any message that has the
following kludge line:
{at}From: first_last{at}???.grntrs.dialix.oz.au
I've noticed that this line is in all gated message sent from me to you to
me. Any new messages sent from your system to me seem to have
rosebay.matra.com.au instead of grntrs.dialix.oz.au in it.
What fido specs do I need to read so that I'll have a vague idea about what
I'm doing?
JG>> Could you ask your friends if there is a way around this?
PE> Ok, first of all I'd like to see if Alan or someone (with no internet
PE> address they want to hang on to) to see if they can suppress the
PE> dupes using the suggestions I gave them, and if that works, I should
PE> know what I need to do. BFN. Paul.
Good! Yes! That'd be much more preferable. I've never screwed around with
fido pkts and that can be dangerous when you're the gateway system :-)
