A BRITISH documentary claims Pope Benedict XVI is implicated in the
systematic cover-up of child sex abuse by Catholic priests.

Over 20 years, the then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger enforced a secret 1962
document on how bishops should deal with child abuse allegations which
included a code of secrecy, enforceable by excommunication, the BBC
Panorama investigation said.
Father Tom Doyle, a canon solicitor reportedly sacked by the Vatican for
criticising its handling of the issue, interpreted the document for the
BBC.

He said it was an explicit written policy to cover up child abuse cases and
one which emphasised total Vatican control and did not mention victims.

Panorama claims seven priests facing child abuse investigations are living
in and around the Vatican.
