Speed, since the advent of 4 digit CPU MHz, is a non-issue for puters used for work rather than playing games. OS2/eCS works great on Intel at any speed above 1GHz or thereabouts, and plenty good even well below that. Except for integrated video, I don't see many Linux users complaining about support for Intel, or its "lack of speed", unlike with the myriad flavors of chipset for AMD.
