-> Rock bound (early versions) I've seen go as low as $45.00, and If
-> it's the programmable one, as high as $400.00. (depends on batt
-> size, (mah rating)) and output watts as well as whether it is VHF,
-> UHF, High/Low in either, and etc. 73's de KB7WTD
Really!? Wow. Guess I'm somewhat in luck then. I've got a pair of
programmable MX350's(though the Prom's are only programmable once) that
are in excellent condition with brand new batteries(the smaller ones)
and a quick charger. They are UHF with a max of 5W output with the
output programmable but not manually switchable by myself.
Right now I'm deciding to either reprogram them in the GMRS freq's I
need, which I wouldn't be changing anytime soon, since they are Motorola
and damn solid radios (built like a brick!), OR go and buy a pair of
Maxon GMRS radios, which go for about $180-200 each. The only thing I
can think of against the Motorola's are that (A) if I do need them
reprogrammed in the future I'd need to spend another $110-120 for each
and also that I'd like a scanning feature, like the Saber's have. Other
than that, I know the Motorola's are still good radios, though these are
a bit old. The thought of accidentally dropping one of the Motorola's
or one of the Maxon's, or another.....say Ham, radio........I think the
Motorola would still work while the other, mostly plastic, radios would
have less of a chance on working correctly. I like the fact that the
Motorola's _feel_ solid and I know of their reputation.
.....guess I'll probably go with reprogramming them. Ahhh...decisions,
decisions.
Thanks John,
Tony
