G'day Bob,

Replying to a message of Paul Edwards to Bob Lawrence on 21/05/97:

BL>> why is it that the mail I just picked up by UUCP is later
BL>> than the Fido mail I picked up this afternoon? And all the UUCP
 BL>> messages

PE> I only run Unix 8-9+ pm. I am writing my messages at the same time as
PE> you are sending them, and it's not until I've finished writing all my
PE> messages that I run "send-uucp", and then reboot back to
OS/2. Hence
PE> you won't get my mail until 8pm the following day. But then, you
PE> should still get that message at 8pm the following day, which is
PE> faster than you will get it via the fido feed.

Paul occasionally forgets about his 8-9pm appointment so it might an extra 24 hours!

BL>> And where's AVT? All I'm getting is locsysop and locuser, addressed
 BL>> to ALL.

PE> Well, it looks like Jeff has turned off the AVT gating until the dupe
PE> problem is sorted out. When you say "addressed to all", what you
PE> really mean is "no specific address", right? The word
"All"
PE> shouldn't appear in the messages you get from me.

I haven't turned it off. It dupes in every echo gated, not just avtech. At
the moment I'm manually killing anything that looks like a dupe. I've now
got two weeks holiday so I'll look at setting up am automatic system.
