Been going on for years in this state.
Yes, TN has mandatory insurance now. The Democrats voted as a block to
defeat the bill. Total division on party lines. No excuse/reason given,
just voted down. TNCARE is also a major drain on our budget. Latest
reports are that we have more unisurables on TNCARE than all the
unisurables in the state of California. All one needs is a letter from an
insurance company rejecting you for coverage, and then TNCARE has to take
you. You fill out a form detailing your income level, but it appears that
no serious checks are done to verify that. There are people who have
listed their income at zero for the last 4 years. The other thing that is
being discovered, is that there are over 10,000 people enrolled on TNCARE
that don't even live in TN, just have a PO Box as a mailing address. Local
news media have followed people from Doctors offices in cars with out of
state plates, all the way back to their homes in another state.
