I'm trying to set up BitchX client on Redhat v9.0 system. I can run BX ok, but it cannot connect to any servers. I'm told that ident may be the problem. I'm told that ident runs on port 113. I cannot find anything in /etc/init.d/ that refers to ident or auth. ps -ef does not show any ident or auth running either. Is ident a service that I need to run in order to get authenticated from the irc server? I have a router on my home network, and I've made sure that I am forwarding port 113 to my linux box, so that shouldn't be a problem. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
