Hi again, Matt!
MS> Don't you see the bad side of this feel-good story?
All I saw was two hard working teachers talking about ligitimate
educational "cause and effect" -- "theory and practice" -- in an
echo set up for them to do that.
You keep mentioning that bond issue that failed out your way.
Were you, perhaps, supportive at all of the bond issue as a
responsible citizen -- or were you at various forums denouncing
education in your community?
You don't do it as much any more but when you first started using
this echo you came off to many as saying: "Daddy professor, me
lawyer. GRRRR!"
You could be a tremendous influence on your community either way;for good or
bad with that kind of assertiveness. ...I'm wondering
if it isn't time for you to put aside your childhood resentment
of education and work for the betterment of it in your area.
If you work to get that next bond issue passed and support the
teachers in your area it could make all the difference in the world.
I'm sure that you know that without something as simple as touch
a human being -- deprived of it from birth -- will wither and die.
Maybe it isn't important to you that some parents are crack or
heroin or alcohol addicted and totally incapable of parenting --
the typical Republican response is "that's the parent's responsibility"
here -- but it's important to me and many others that a well rounded
set of skills for living are passed on to future generations; not just
those that Republicans are going to milk for all they are worth
and balk at anything close to just compensation for.
I just opened up a Black & Decker blender the other day -- said
"Made in the USA" on the outside. Outside was all plastic - probably
less than two bucks manufacturing cost -- Jug, case and all. Inside
was a *very* well manufactored, state-of-the-art motor with a "Made
in China" label on it. ...kinda makes me want to publish a "Southern
California Freeway Bag Limits and Seasonal Prohibitions Guide" and
leave Republicans unmentionedÿ-- everyone alse "bag limit - 0" and
"No open season".
Matt, it sounds like you're just too cheap to be willing to support
the infrastructure of a really great country -- worse than thatÿû,
it sounds like you'd like to destroy the proven institutions that
made it so great.ÿ Of course Clinton wants to take credit for the
crime bill causing the decrease in crime but did you notice that
the time crime started dropping was the same as when all the little orange
trucks atarted rolling out on the highway to do infrastructure
work? Working people WORK, get paid, spend their money and fall asleep
exhausted after a long day. The spinoff work from the way they spend
their money duplicates the process. Republicans steal, cheat and
con people out of money and then invest it overseas. Crime hits the
ceiling then. ...kids have to know stuff like that rather than be
indoctrinated that the Republicans are for family values & conservative
issues. That's simply BS -- the "Republican Christmas Party" tape
clearly puts that myth to rest. "Trickle Down" is another myth.
Peoples' lives are being destroyed out here in the trenches and your
"Let 'em eat cake" philosophy ought to get you no less a vivid
response than the French gave for it. I *can* see how you'd like
to keep 'em ignorant though. It just ain't gonna happen. :)
Best,
-frank:)
