| subject: | Re: [OS2HW] RW Media Options |
Hi Felix,
I agree about the use of hard drives.
I am currently testing a external hard drive box called a LanDrive.
I have fitted a 160gb Fat32 seagate IDE drive in it. It is useable as either
a USB external hard drive or as a 10/100 Network storage drive.
It is the latter, as a Network device that I am playing with. I can configure
it with ANY browser from ANY OS but have to use FTP program to add/remove
files and directories etc in os/2 or eCS. I have given up with the os/2 FTP-PM
templates as to buggy and so far, have settled on an old Emtec FTP 5.0
program I still have.
So far it works very well. The LanDrive also has network config, it's own
DHCP or manual IP, and can Format disk as Fat32 or ScanDisk from the
browser config session, totally independent of the main computers' operating
system (of course).
There is no url to speak of, only a download page for firmware and win98
drivers so far. I sure hope they are going to continue development and
create a proper home page at a later date.
More later perhaps,
Robert Traynor (BobT).
