Apart from the fact that correlation is not cause and effect, I am partial
to the theory that CD sales are down for two main reasons (1) popular music
is unadventurous (2) DVD sales are up.

(2) is especially noticeable amongst the 20 and 30-somethings where I work.
They are amassing DVD libraries whereas at their age I was amassing a CD
library.
