No problem, ask away. I'll learn something most likely.

>is your system only SCSI and has no EIDE controller?

     1. Yes, my system is all SCSI.
     2. Well, the EIDE controller(s) have been disabled in
        the motherboard BIOS.
     3. I bought the Acard 7720 SCSI2IDE converter:
        a. it looked easier to deal with than rewiring
my drives with an IDE cable
        b. I was ignorant and afraid of what all would
be involved to get an IDE connection working
           (ie device ID mechanism 1,0,0)

Yes, I know. I NEVER do things the normal way!

Yes, that is what I am trying to start to educate myself about. I
just discovered that I have DVDDAO 1.1.2. I just made a directory for it,
unzip the archive, have copied and
renamed the "readme" file and am preparing to print it out.
