uh huh.. so if they didn't have that data, how does media player know what
song it is so it can attach that data?

Sorry but I don't believe that media player is just putting blank data in
there, I think it's more likely that along with the blank data it's
attaching a unique id that identifies the media player install otherwise
why bother? What use is it to just add blank data?

find the strings it added, see if they have some section in common that
might be an ID.
