Sorry, I don't subscribe to the "Slap in the face of fandom" mindset.
The people at Paramount have creative control over Star Trek. I often
do not like what they do, but they have no obligation to research fan
fiction -- or even Pocket Books fiction -- FASA role playing games, or
anything else before writing their scripts.
