I would suggest getting one that takes standard AA batteries as opposed to the ones that take the rechargeable nicad packs. The reason I say this is because if you buy one that takes the nicad packs, and your batteries go dead during a power outage (when there's some very interesting listening), you're sorta out of luck. But if you buy one that takes standard AA's, you can put rechargeable AA's in it, and then if they go dead during a power outage, you can throw some "el-cheepo" batteries in it and continue listening. As for a brand preference, I'm partial to Radio Shack. Have Fun!
