Some, not all, of those who are under the influence of mind altering
substances are what you term "suicidal". They are not mentally ill, they
are physically sick which has in turn affected their minds.

Which is why some of them use mind-altering substances, and "why" 
doctors prescribe them.  Just what do you classify Prozac or Valium
as, incidently, if they are not mind-altering substances?

Today the sun is shinning for the first time in days.  I am sick and
tired of the dreary, gray days I have been waking up to and the sunshine
is very welcome.  That is a mild case of S.A.D. which can be allieviated
by more light, not by drugs, and I am not considered to be mentally ill
for feeling this way.
