 Fwiw I had a 2.1G scsi fireball in this system that did the same thing.
Problem seems to be right at the power conn on the drive but I can't
get any closer than that to what's causing it.

 You could start the system and just hear it spin up, click, rattle,
spin up, click....

 Other times it'd start up ok but after several minutes here you'd
go again and if it did it that way then the drive would cause all
sorts of probs w/ disk access in the rest of the system. (which since
all the other drives were ide is a head scratcher)
