subject: FAX for NT

I just installed the MS technology preview for fax capability. It works fine
but, at least with my modems (USR Sportster 28.8-33.6k externals) it
interferes with RAS server. That is, if the fax service is running, RAS
clients can't dial in (modem goes off-hook but appears to be trying to
negotiate a fax connection - no tones are audible from the modem speakers and
the connection times out).
I suspect that because this is basically beta code, not all fuctionality is
there. However, it may also be the modem not switching between modes
haven't
looked into the overall capabilities. Since this is my first attempt to
utilize fax in any version of Windows, could someone bring me up to speed
quickly? Is it a configuration issue? I'd prefer to use the limited free
software - I'll turn off the service manually if I need to.
On a related note, is there a way to start/stop services from a command line
(so I could schedule a batch file)?
