Dear Mr Rod Speed,
I have just spent a little bit of time reading through
messages going between you and various other people and I have decided to
put fingers to keyboard and " throw in my two microchips."
I do agree with you on this point:
" And I am entitled to my opinion, just like anyone else is Gordon."
But the problem with the following argument,
" RS> Or you could have put a bit more effort into your school
RS> work, went on to study something at Uni which would have
RS> improved your employment prospects Mick. Plenty did.
SB> Thats true, plenty have gone on to Uni. But very few actually get
SB> the jobs that they want, mainly because the Employers want people
SB> with experience and and people that come out of Uni, don't have that,
Soorree Gordon, thats crap. Most obvious with something like
medicine or dentistry for example. Plenty of jobs available."
is that to get such a degree
as in medicine of any type you either need the money (from some sort of
loan or rich parents if your lucky enough) to pay for the tuition
or you need a scholarship. Reason being, that it costs too damn much for
the average Joe to pay.
" I dont know Chris Skase either Gordon. He's faking too."
You'd fake an illness if you were in as much shit as Skase.
" MH> reply here ot Phone me on 044-72-9812 noon to midnite.
RS> Oops, wots this Mick ? You QUITE sure that you aint too thrilled
RS> about the prospect of getting out of bed before lunchtime to go to
RS> work ? You QUITE sure you havent just decided that it might be a FINE
RS> idea to run a BBS and loll there on welfare forever, never having get
RS> up before midday, playing with your BBS till midnight, suits you a
RS> HELL of a lot better than getting off your bum and finding a job ?"
I used to work as a Boilermaker's Apprentice. I say used to because
I was at home having a day off because of stress and I decided to ring
my Boss and notify him I was moving to Brisbane.
When I called and told my Boss this, he asked if I would mind waiting for
a call back. I said I wouldn't mind and I waited. 30 minutes later he
called me and straight away told me that my position was terminated.
Nothing more. Instead of offering to recommend me to another steel works
he just fired me. NOW, I had been a very good employee ( i tended to
pay too much attention to detail and was often told " Don't worry about
that. The painters can cover it with some bog.") and I liked the work
BUT the ONLY reason I got that job in the first place was that my dad
worked there. Now the point of this is I used to stay up till 1am every
weeknight, winding down from the day, and I would get up at 6am to get
ready for work.
And before you ask why I don't go back into Boilermaking the reason is
this. I need a T.A.F.E or Uni degree just to be an Apprentice.
" Its even worse with the unmarried mothers. We dont think its a
terrific idea for little kids to starve to death, so you can basically
just volunteer to loll on welfare for a decade or two by having some.
You dont have to fart around with the job test or bother to fake up
some untestable medical condition, just have some kids. You might
even enjoy the process of volunteering to life on welfare too."
(I presume you mean FEMALE unemployed people)
Most of the female unemployed people who have children, have them
because they are unemployed, not to get more money, but because they
have resigned themselves to being useless and employable, and they feel
that all they have left to look forward to in life is either getting
married, having children or both.
After looking for jobs and getting knocked back, their self-esteem
hits rock bottom. Men also suffer from low self-esteem because of
knock-backs but because we don't have the maternal instinct like women
do, so we deal with it differently, say, with Alcohol, Drugs, and Parties
when money is available and so fourth.
" If you can fix that one Gordon, the will likely give you the Nobel
Prize for services to good government, coz no one else has worked
out how to. You will be able to put it next to the Nobel Prize you
will get when your theory on mad cow disease is recognised too."
There used to be a scheme (which was cut out when Howard come into
position as P.M.) called New Work Opportunities. Other then the
slight lack of communication running through the whole scheme
due to the fact it was VERY new, it had a huge amount of promise.
It basically worked like this:
1. Person picks field they would like to work in.
2. They are placed in an occupation in that field for six months
and during that time the employer trains and gives the employee
experience while the Queensland Chamber of Commerce and Industry
pays the employee instead of the employer.
3. At the end of the six months the employer then has the choice of
keeping the employee or referring them back to the C.E.S.
I, personally, would keep someone I had just trained and become
familiar with in six months.
I was set to become eligable for this scheme and be working RIGHT NOW
if Mr John Howard hadn't cut it.
Finally in closing, I am unemployed and yet still look for work every
week and I DO want to work. My chosen field is Computers, and I know
that I have enough knowledge to become at LEAST a trainee technician.
Blessed Be, Caradoc Oakson
... "Could you continue your petty bickering? I find it most intriguing."
