Hello Roy.

01 Mar 03 20:02, you wrote to me:

The level meters in the software I use to record from my turntable vian the
phono stage on my pre-amp. I set the level using the mixing program.

Glad you appear to have made a great deal of progress. :-)

Well there is gramofile, which you have mentioned, I have yet to get to terms
with it, then there is ECAWAVE, which appears to be a reasonbly nice *.wav
file editor. Then there is SND which appears to be another good sound
processing application, then there is ECASOUND, ehich is nice with a lot of
filters and such, with qtecasound a X front for it, then there is slab which
I believe you mentioned awhile back, which is problematic in that it does not
want to open a *.wav file I have here, but otherwise looks promising so does
DAP, but I need time to play with them. The last two also lock up for some
reason, thaat I don't yet understand. :-((

SND appears to be highly capable, and from reading the SOX manpage there is a
program that needs a good X frontend, XSOX is a bit limited in what it lets
you do with SOX. As for mixers there is KMix, alsamixer, gamix, umix, aumix
and possibly more.
