Hi Martin,

   If you check the printer manual, isn't there a way to change the ink 
cartridges using a combination/sequence of the buttons on the printer 
itself ? I know this is the case for the old (Epson Stylus 680) that I 
have. You shouldn't "have to" use a computer to command the printer to 
present the cartridges for replacement.
