The reason it did not work, in my case, was that I never
noticed the line at the bottom of the screen saying to
press Alt-F9 to rotate the text box. Though I looked in
the book index under "rotate" and elsewhere, I completely
missed any hint that WP allowed me to rotate text. It did
seem that is should be possible. Following your above key
stroke sequence got it for me. Many thanks.
