Wow! That's an idea. I try to get along without windows amap. However I
have a project to convert my old vinyl records to digital and get a
video to DVD converter and do the same to my video tapes. I have
decided to get USB devices because I don't want an analog signal to get
inside the RF overload environment of my computer case before
conversion. So I chose the ADStech "Instant Music" device which comes
with pretty good NERO software for recording and editing sound files
using win98se up. It's the usual "not a large percentage of hardware
will work with OS/2" and ECS with the latest usb drivers doesn't
recognize it. But my ears tell me this device does really high quality
recording with very low noise level. It's in a computer that I
installed a Maxtor SATA 150 PCI card with an 80 gig WD SATA drive that
so far ECS has not noticed. I may make this computer a 100% windows
computer just for the above projects and remove ECS and Linux from it.
It won't hook up to the internet unless it's networked through my other
ECS machine with the InJoy firewall as the gateway. Seems the safest
way to get the windows security updates.
