DC> in Victoria next weekend, but I didn't quite have enough time
DC> to arrange the time off. :(
GD> If you haven't done a Swiftsure, you've got to get there. Just take
With luck, I'll be able to arrange that for next season. BTW,
I understand that there's a boat size minimum... do you know
what that is? And, no! I'm not thinking of entering the C-Lark!
Also, about how long does the race last? I hear 24+ hrs...
GD> my advice, don't succumb to the shooter specials in the bars. If you
GD> do, try to make it back to your bunk before 3:00AM. Makes for a truly
GD> long race if it's rough and/or raining. :)
That sounds like you learned the rule the hard way! All I
can say is that I've been fortuanate enough not to have a
queasy stomach even after a good night on the town. Though,
I'm also sure that I've been lucky on that... Perhaps my
need to be sailing over rides my need to chum for fish? :)
DC> Because Seattle is an old Indian name meaning 50 degrees
GD> Better that then Coquitlam - stinking of rotting fish slime.....
I take it that that's a real place with a real translation.
GD>> Where do the deadheads go at night? :)
DC> Gerry Garcia memorial concerts!
GD> That explains it! In all the overnighters I've done, we've only hit
GD> deadheads in the middle of the day.
Yeah, as that's the only time they may sleep... You usually
find them looking like, not a shoal, but like a very strangely
painted VW bus.
BTW, if you make to the next Swiftsure, I'm looking forward to
meeting you. You sound like you're as crazy as my skipper!
... I sail, therefore I am.
