you did see my last sentence to replace "inet.d" with whatever
you use, right? ;)

as someone else (shawn?) mentioned, check your /etc/services file... this
is the only time that i'm aware of changing the port in /etc/services would
cause the port being listened to to change... i've always just edit the
services file to add missing ports...
