Part of that is we don't have the parliamentary procedure wrangling
you get in some organizations. I did a political party's county
convention in '88, and those folks can drone on .
AS for Harvey's idea of starting morning sessions an hour earlier, I
can see the merit in this. All everybody's got to do is party an hour
less . I don't mind, as when I make it to convention, sleep
comes at a premium anyway.
Upon reading the August September Monitor today, I see our convention
was as full of activity as usual. Would have liked to have been
there. We can't really afford as a movement to forego afternoon
sessions so that divisions and committees can work.
That's one reason all divisions and committees should start such
things as internet listservs. It keeps the members working together
all year long, as well as discussing joint concerns. Division work,
just like general federation activity, should continue throughout the
year to be effective, and the net can help the process.
