 It has been suggested by
DT>research  that approximated spellers do develop into accomplished
DT>spellers.  
Clarification on the above:
Research doesn't merely suggest this but rather shows it to be true.  
Research has also shown that students who were allowed to approximate 
their spelling became more accomplished as spellers than students who 
were taught spelling using the more traditional method (which I have 
already said doesn't work).
