-=> August Abolins wrote to Chip Hearn <=- AA> HELLO CHIP.. This sort of discussion would be GREAT in "BBS_CARNIVAL", AA> "FUTURE4FIDO", and maybe even in "POINTS" echos. Would love to see you AA> in any AA> of those. While I not the original poster I can say that like him I am sick of the World Wide Mall. I run my bbs as both a dialup and telnet bbs, The Telnet side is going bye bye soon so I can focus on the dialup side. I too strongly believe that thanks to the new toll free long distance calling plans, a dialup bbs could really make a comeback. Especially with Rogue Viri and worms roaming the I-Net. Perhaps the first thing that We the dialup sysops must do is promote the different toll free long distance calling plans. As for the software side.. I run Linux. Now I wanted to add some msdos doors to it. I figured if I am going to go half way using dosemu to run the doors.. why not run the bbs too under dosemu? Since the Maximus for linux fails to finish compiling (it gets stuck on sqafix routines in the source, I compile a fresh CVS set every night. I decided to run a maximus 3.02 for Dos under Dosemu. (all y2k patches installed). works well. The original poster mentioned bbs software still being developed. What packages are still being released for msdos? What every happened to the Opus 1.79 series? Is anyone ever going to encourage the Opus 1.79 team to come out of retirement or release the source as Lanius Corp has done for Maximus? Btw I have the AT&T Unlimited Plus plan which works out great for my bbs as On the plus plan (not the classic or standard.) I can call any human or computer reguardless of their LD provider toll free day or night. To find out more call 1-800-222-0300. Any other plans like that? Post your feedback here. Ditto with what bbs's are still in development. Michele Marie Dalene ... Look out!...
