It has to be - the echo requested autonomy, you have it.  Responsibility
and all.  My guess is that a moderator is your best chance - and one chosen
from your own ranks and own philosophy is the best hope of working.

(Mind you I didn't ask for a moderator.  I asked for a cleanup that
permitted useful traffic back in, to the point where the echo remains worth
carrying.)
